Drip. Drip. Drip. I open my eyes. Where am I? Why am I wet? Why can’t I breathe? All these questions in my head, but no answers. As I look up, I squint and see a faint shadow with a halo. I hear something, but it’s not clear. Things happen for a reason, but this I just don’t get. What is the reason that I am here? I try to keep myself from falling asleep, but I’m just too tired.
I wake up in comfort. I slowly glance my surroundings, and I see a stranger sitting there staring at me. “Are you alright?” he asked. I look at him in confusion because I have no idea who he is to be asking this question. “I’m good, but who are you?” I asked him. The very first thing that I notice about him is his beautiful grey eyes. Then I see his other features like his hair; it is so dark to where you might lose your hand if you run them through it. “Oh, sorry I forgot to introduce myself to you. I’m Moon Bin. I’m the person who found you beside the lake. What is your name?” he asked. “My name…my name is…Sil Bi…Lee Sil Bi.” Why did that take me so long to think of? I stayed at the hospital with Moon because no one seemed to claim that they knew me, and while he was with me, it felt like a century.
Where am I? Wait, is this a lake? I immediately turned when I heard the rustle of the leaves. “Who’s there?” I asked. It was a man in a trench coat. His long hair covered his face, so I have no idea who he is. Slowly he walked towards me, and because I didn’t know who he was, I ran the other direction. When I was running, I didn’t hear any footsteps following me, so I stopped and turned around. “I got you” he said as he reached for my neck. I was struggling so much to be free from his hands. I started to cry because it hurt so much. He swung me to the left, and then SPLASH. He threw me in the water.
I woke up, and I was drenched in my own tears. From the look of it, I was still in the hospital room. Moon was on the side of my bed looking half asleep. I couldn’t stop crying after I woke up, so Moon came and cradled me. His warmth made me feel better. He stayed with me the entire night because I couldn’t go back to sleep. Who was that stranger?
Months passed, and there wasn’t any more problems causing me trouble. “Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Sil Bi…” everyone sang. I started to look around. “Who is that?” I asked Moon as I pointed outside. “He is one of my childhood friend, Jin Seok.”  I went out in the cold to have a closer look, but before I could do anything, he started to come closer to me with that evil smile. I ran for it because I was frightened, but before I knew it, I felt a sharp pain from my back. I fell on the ground suffering and struggling to get up. He stabbed me. I saw Moon come out of the house, and he started to run towards me with shock on his face. “What happened?! Who did this to you?! Sil Bi stay with me don’t…” was all I heard. I open my eyes. “Nurse! Nurse! She’s awake!” called Mom. “Are you okay?” Mom asked.
“Doctor Jin Seok was found guilty for attempting to murder Oh Yeon Joo last Friday”, said the news anchor on the television. It turns out that Jin Seok, my actually doctor, tried to keep me in a coma for as long as 2 years. He was greedy.  He thought that putting someone in the hospital would get him money because the longer someone stays in the hospital, the more they have to pay. He knew that drowning someone could put them in a coma, and to put them in the coma longer, he decided on putting lead in their system. Everything that happened was all a hallucination. When I fully recovered, Mom and I left to go home. “I forgot something. You can go ahead”, I said to Mom. When I went inside, I went into the elevator. “How have you been?” I turned around, and it was Moon.
