Mrs. Chandlee
After considering many educators to nominate for the title of Educator of the Year, I choose the one and only: Mrs. Chandlee. I must admit it was not that much of a challenge to realize she had the perfect traits that I would consider the title holder to have. Though I have only known her for two years, I can truthfully say I have never met someone quite like her. She is the most intelligent science and math instructor I have ever come across within my school career so far.
First off, I can tell by her tactics within the classroom she is always ahead of the “game” and always has time for each and every one of her students. Though she can be strict at times, she is always there for help. If you're not good at moving quickly when it comes to learning or even taking notes, you would agree with me when I say, it was quite challenging at times. This is especially true for when that time came around for another test. Her test were the most challenging tests I had ever taken through 7th and 8th grade, but they were very creative and well thought out.
Making the boring material fun was her specialty, she always knew how to make us memorize the important material by finding a enjoyable way for us to study. For example, when were were learning about cells she had everyone partner up and create a rap. Not only was this fun, but we all used the lyrics to study. Making the test that much easier.
Mrs. C is very creative and always had something new “up her sleeve.” Whether it was using riddles to figure out what science specialty we were going to learn about, or interacting with the Smartboard to learn about the epidermis level, she always had a new form of teaching the material. What stayed constant was the endless slides of notes written down in countless notebooks along with the oral notes she would give. Many former students would say she was prepping us for college, but once freshman year rolled around, I knew she was just preparing us for a easy breezy freshman year.
In the beginning she can be a little overwhelming, but give her the time. She will show you she that is one of the nicest people you will meet. I will never forget the years I spent as her student and how much she has impacted not only my life but the lives of others as well. She is what I consider the total package for the title of Educator of the Year because she is more than can be describe in just a few paragraphs, but out of everyone she has helped make a huge difference in my life and I appreciate that greatly. For all these reasons and more I am nominating Mrs. Chandlee for Teen Ink's Educator of the Year.
