Bullying in schools

School bullying has become a huge topic over the last couple of years. There have been many ways to try and stop bullying. There have been many communities online and programs to try and stop bullying. This information comes from bullyingstatitics.org. They have been around for a couple years now trying to help the prevention of bullying.

There are many different forms of bullying. Bullying is generally made from one person to another, one either harassing, or hurting the other one. Bullying can be from peer to peer, this generally being from older kids. It can even be from student to teacher, or vice versa.

One third of the kids, ages 12-18 have reported being bullied in school. Although most bullying happens in middle school, this is physical bullying. High school is reported to have more cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is the most common type of bullying. Other forms of bullying are pack bullying, which is when a group of students harass one student or a group of students, and individual which is one on one.

Bullying usually happens in one of two ways. Emotional and physical. Although physical can cause a lot of pain, emotional tends to affect students in the long run. Emotional bullying can lead to the student having low self esteem, difficulty in trust, aggression, and depression, which can lead to thoughts of suicide or it even being committed. This has lead to the term bullycide.

Usually bullies target a specific person or group. The most common ones being, homosexuals, disabled, those of a different race, and those of a certain religion.
This information does not only apply to me, but should apply to everyone. Everyone needs to know about the issues of bullying. They need to confront it as an adult and not take these situations lightly. I know in the future in the work place, or post schooling that I should be the one to stop things like this from happening. If you were a good person you would too.
