The Truth About Bullies
I’m what they call a “bully”
I don’t mean to hurt anyone,
I’m just so mad.
You see, I’m not a bully at home,
in fact, I’m the complete opposite
I’m the one who gets bullied.
My dad loves me,
he just doesn’t know how to show it,
but I know he does.
My mom left us years ago.
Ever since, my dad started to drink,
and he hasn’t been the same.
He doesn’t talk much,
he doesn’t listen to me,
he just sits around watching television.
Sometimes I annoy him,
so he yells and hits, but
I never mean to make him mad.
I have cuts and bruises, and
my dad tells me to hide them.
So I do, because I love my dad.
Life has been so different since my mom left.
I miss her so much,
I still don’t know why she left.
My dad doesn’t know either.
He never talks about her.
I think it’s because he misses her.
We don’t have much money.
We’re getting kicked out of our house soon,
so school is my only meal of the day.
So, yeah, I guess I’m a “bully,”
but I really don’t mean to hurt anyone,
I’m just so sad.
