Honoring Community Members
Being a part of your community is an important task that special people are honored to be a part of. Not only does it change your life and your outlook on life’s situations; it also changes and brightens the lives of many unfortunate people.
On a chilly November morning, my friend and I awoke to a life-changing opportunity. We boarded a train to New York City where we would distribute old hats, gloves, and coats to less fortunate people. Along with this, we would distribute a bagged lunch, which included a sandwich, water, a piece of fruit and a snack. The people we assisted looked gloomy and upset. When we gave them what they were looking for, such as a coat, or food, I could see their dull faces become effulgent with joy and thanks.
From this experience I have learned to live each day positively. Knowing that there are people in this world that do not have all the things that I take for granted makes my perspective widen about myself. I’ve learned to live each day and take what life gives you.
