Saturday Morning Basketball Program MAG
Beginning the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the community service organization I work for begins its basketball program. The organization is run by both members of the school and church communities of St. Jerome's in Weymouth. I became involved with this organization the beginning of my freshman year. I was interested because it worked with both my own parish and my old elementary school.
The organization is run very smoothly from November until March, on every Saturday. I work from 8: 00 a.m. until 1: 00 p.m, coaching, refereeing, keeping score and selling refreshments to the young kids who come and play each week.
The organization is opened up to kids within either the parish or the school and parents are always welcome to come and cheer on their kids.
For each group, we take the time to teach new drills, different tactics, game plans and other helpful hints. At the end of each session each group get together for a full court scrimmage.
At the end of each session we sell juice boxes and donuts to all the kids and their families. fl
