Elephants
Lumbering along the African slopes,
And wandering in the Asian jungles,
Are the great leviathans free of ropes,
Endangered because of mankind’s bungles.
An elephant’s elongated grey trunk,
With a pair of creamy ivory tusks,
Make it appear like anything but shrunk,
While eating tree branches, hay, barks and husks.
Their demeanor is extremely gentle,
With their slow, steady, and peaceful ambles,
They appear human and sentimental,
Not deterred by forests full of brambles.
Sometimes elephants go trampling and wild,
But they are generally calm and mild.
