The writing titled “Cross Country Actually Exists,” written by Brooke B., talks about her feelings of recognition for football and volleyball, “Why not cross country?” Her writing left me feeling similar to how she feels about cross country and the other sports.

I understand why the author feels this way. You look at football and volleyball and you know that those are the big sports. You wonder why there’s such a difference in appreciation for those sports. You’ve got to give cross country runners credit. Like the author said, “Running 10 miles isn’t everyone's cup of tea.” I totally agree with that. To some people, running is just running. You go out, you run, then you’re done. You don’t do anything except run. Believe it or not, runners have to do weights, arms, and legs, just like football and volleyball. How else could they have such leg muscle to run 10 miles a day and still do extra workouts when they’re done running. Not without muscle that's for sure. Runners have to do just as much work as all those other sports do. As the author said, "I'm not expecting students to show up at our meets at 7:00 a.m. in the morning- but some recognition would be nice."
