How Long Submissions Take to be Approved

December 6, 2009
By Anonymous

It seems that when you submit something, it takes weeks, perhaps even months for it to be approved. Everything is always published on the website, is it not? Has anyone ever received a letter saying your article was not approved and will never will be? I don't think so. Why not just post everything up right away so we no longer have to wait and wait to see our work up online.

Interesting point.

Yes you are free to write what you wish; however, when you ask another person/group to publish your site they have the right to refuse/censor.

If you just want to publish your own materials, the answer is a BLOG. No censoring there, and no wait to publish!

Teen ink is a beautiful forum for young writers.  Be thankful.

I think mine takes forever to be submitted because I have a tendecy to just keep writing and writing and submitting and submitting, then I get really bummed when I don't get the e-mail, then I distract myself by writing again thus the cycle continues :/ :L

Yeah, with all the editors we have today, why should author's even care if their work is good or not? It's the editors job to do that, right? *sarcasm*

Completely agree! :)

It's their site. I think they can do what they like with it. It's not like we pay them.

Thank you for making me feel so good about myself. Now that I know It's all my fault, I have something else to be sad about. Thank  you for takeing away the only thing I could comfort myself with by telling my self It's teenink's fault.

That means they've rejected it. If you go to your MY Stuff and your work is no longer pending approval and has not been posted to the website, then it was rejected. I've had that happen several times. Just keep checking your "My Stuff" to keep an eye on your work. :)

They own it so that no one else can use it and say they wrote it. It's a legal thing and it protects you and your work. Plus, they allow you to post your work wherever else you want to. It's not like they own it and that's it, it's no longer yours. It's just a protection issue.

I have no clue. I have over 15 pages worth of articles and art and they're still accepting more. It would make sense that there is no limit.

Honestly, if something was misspelled, it's your fault, not Teen Ink's. They post everything that is appropriate despite the flaws. But that just means they most likely will not be published. I've found things in my stuff that was misspelled or where I left out a word, but I don't blame Teen Ink. It was my fault. YOU as the writer are responsible for your own work. Teen Ink is just here to let your stuff be seen.

If something has innapropriate content it will be rejected. Teen Ink the website still must remain in control and know what is on their site.

Not everything. If something has innapropriate content it will be rejected. And plus, Teen Ink the website still must remain in control and know what is on their site. I'm sure a lot more innapropriate articles and art are rejected than you realize. :/

It has to be approved for inappropriate content and you can check if it was not approved by going to "My Work" and if it is no longer in the shaded in section at the top and if it has not been posted, then it was rejected.

i think that it takes so long to be posted because if you think about it they have so many people on this website posting all their creations at the same time online.  so it will probably take a while for whoever is approving it.  all it takes is some pactince.

I agree completely!!! Our work should be published almost immediately. I mean, they do have a right to view to make sure there are not threats and stuff like that. But we also have a right to write about whatever we please. It may seem inappropriate to them, but to us it may be relevant. Bottom line: our work is important to us, and no matter what is in it, it deserves to be published on the site.

it could be innapropriate. Im still waiting for mine to be approved too, it has to do with addiction, but i think it may be too graphic.
