‘Cosine’ by Nicki N is a relatable story about a student struggling with trigonometry. She describes how she is stuck, while her classmates rush ahead of her in the class.

I can most definitely sympethize with the author. I loved math in sixth grade, even in seventh grade. I sped to the top of the class with my knowledge and understanding of mathematics, until I, like the author, met trigonometry. It was definitely like “reading a foreign language” to me. I tried my best to keep up with it. But no, I was stuck on hyperbolic sines, and the problems just kept building. I tried for hours to understand but to no avail. In the end, I am left with “my pencil resting immobile in my hand.”
