Are graphic designers to blame here?
Op-ed on the article:Unleashed Graphic Designers-Art over Function
My dream is to become a graphic designer in the future, so I am learning what they do in videos, articles, and what others say. And I found an article named “Unleashed Graphic Designer-Art over Function|Ralph Nader
In his article states that in newspapers are being affected by graphic designer’s choices and they’re out of control. Even though I want to become a graphic designer, I see his point. Because a graphic designer would be in charge of the design of the newspaper, and they should know what design works for any project, because that’s their job. But graphic designers aren’t the only ones to blame editors are to blame too. Editors make sure any flaws were fixed or atleast useable. And according to Nader ”First is the use of background colors that seriously blur the visibility of the text on the page”.
Which means that you can’t even read what they’re trying to promote. But mostly it’s the graphic designers fault.
In the op-ed Nader was saying either artists are losing their proportion or editors are making them do more than they have to. “Many graphic artists seem to have lost their sense of proportion – unless that is, the editors are pushing them to bleed out more and more valuable space with their increasingly extravagant designs.”
And like i said before , those designs might not be the graphic designers fault, but the people that tell him what to do
Honestly I'm not defending anyone because like this one saying the person who killed is equally as guilty as the person who sees it happen. To put it in context , the graphic designers and editors in this article are equally as guilty because the editors let it happen and graphic designers didn't do their job right.
