When I was a little girl...
When I was a little girl, I asked my mother why she never cried. She replied with a glassy look in her eye “Because, when you grow up, things happen that break your heart. Sometimes we just forget how.” I was more confused than I had ever been. How could you forget something as simple as crying? As I have grown up, I’ve realized that my mother was right. A tear is not what it was when I was younger. It use to be a way of letting my emotions go, saying goodbye and never thinking about it again. Now a tear is an open door for liars and heartbreakers. I’ve forgotten how to cry too, mother.
