The First Day of Kindergarten
The First Day of Kindergarten
I remember like it was yesterday, finally going to my first year of school at St. Johns Central Grade School. It was august of 1999, my teacher was Mrs.Rotillio, and my heart was racing and my palms were soaked in sweat. My dad walked me in; it felt like all eyes were on me. I didn’t want him to leave, I asked him if he would stay just for today, but he wasn’t allowed. When lunchtime came around I sat with Cheyenne, I knew her years before school started. I made new friends during recess because of her, and I’m still friends with most of them to this day. When it was time to leave I told my parents all about that day. So, I’m glad my dad didn’t stay because I wouldn’t have been able to make friends that day!
