The dominant emotion in my descriptive piece is bittersweet. This last day was very bittersweet in the way that it was my last day of 8th grade but also, I finally get to move on to high school. This day brought both tears and excitement to my eyes. One example from my piece is “It was a bittersweet moment because I was very excited to move on from grade school, but I will always love this place. St. Aloysius was the school I went to from kindergarten to 8th grade, but now it was time for me to have a new chapter in my life and that new chapter was Assumption High School.” These two sentences really explain all I was feeling that day and why I was sad and happy at the same time. another example in my piece is “This part is what I was excited about but also dreading.” This statement really shows the meaning of being bittersweet that feeling on being excited but dreading something at the same time. One final example is “I hope they cherish their years at this school with their friends because I wish I would have cherished mine more.” This statement might be one of my favorites in the entire piece because it is very raw and shows how I was feeling in that moment. Bittersweet is the dominant emotion of my piece because I was feeling excited and sad at the exact same time.
