What I Want To Be
“We are at our very best, and we are happiest, when we are fully engaged in work we enjoy on the journey toward the goal we’ve established for ourselves. It gives meaning to our time off and comfort to our sleep. It makes everything else in life so wonderful, so worthwhile.”
That is a very powerful quote from Earl Nightingale, who was a famous motivational speaker and author. Because this quote sticks out to me so much, I have tried to base my life on it. I try to apply that quote to all my little goals but it really drives my life goal, which is to get a Ph.D. in neurology and discover things about the brain that no one has seen before. I want to be happy, help people, and make a difference and this is why.
To fully reach my lifetime goal, I need to be happy. Doing what I love would make me happy and happiness is the best treatment for anything. It would make me so ecstatic if I could help people in my career and so that’s why I want to go into the medical field. To me, happiness also comes with quality of living. I know that money shouldn’t matter but it does. I want a nice home and I have to be able to provide for my future family. Although happiness is a big part of my future goals, helping people is even more important.
I’ve always wanted to help people and working in the medical field would definitely help me with my goal. Neurology really stuck out to me because my great grandma had Alzheimers. Ever since she passed away, I’ve wanted learn more about the disease and work to help cure it. Working in medicine would also allow me to contribute to science and, most of all, it would allow me to discover for the good of mankind and that’s something I’ve always strived to do. Working with math and science everyday is also part of my goal because I’ve always excelled in both subjects and they’re both extremely interesting to me. Helping people is an extremely important thing for me to do and hopefully it will also make a difference in my world and hopefully in someone else’s.
When I was little, I wanted to change the world. I felt a strong aspiration to make a difference, leave something behind, be remembered. So I automatically thought of medicine. Making a difference in the medical world has been a dream of mine and I’ve had so many great people fueling that dream. At first I wanted to make a difference through music, but I wasn’t sure how. But when I got older, and realized that playing piano wouldn’t get me anywhere, I went for medicine. Through medicine, I can make a difference by helping people. I will study and learn about the brain so I can apply my knowledge to research so I can discover things about the brain that no one has found yet
I want to study neurology so I have a happy life, help people in need, and make a difference in the world. All of this is just because of some quote about goals that I found a quote on the internet. It made me want to achieve and I’m going to. So whenever I feel doubtful of myself, I just remember this quote and bear in mind that only I can make my life mean something and I can only do that by making goals to strive for.
