Grounded
It was the Defiance Rib fest, and Christopher just pulled up to my house. It was a perfect warm day, feeling the cooling breeze in my hair. Perfect weather for a t-shirt and shorts, oh how I loved that weather! I was still getting ready when Christopher pulled up, so we chilled at my place for a little bit, then started our walk. I live about a five minute walk from downtown Defiance.
When we got to the rib fest, you could smell all the grills and hear the crowed talking. All the little kids were moving a mile a minute with one other, while the parents stated, “James, Stephanie,” yelling for them once and awhile. It was nice seeing people hug one another and enjoying the company of each other. Seeing all the workers in the stands being as busy as a bee when more and more people showed up.
The first thing Chris and I did was go into Cabin Fever and bought a Blue Jones pop to drink. As we sat in the window, looking at all the people, all we could think was what kind of trouble will we get ourselves into today. After we walked around the rough road top, I caught the wonderful smell of the fire stations ribs, they always taste delicious. We ate them and listened to the uplifting music from the band.
After awhile I told Christopher this girl asked, “would you want to hang out at my place?” I told her yea if she was able to bring a friend over for Chris. The next thing I know we were sitting on a cold metal bench, that was as black as coal, at the VFW waiting to be picked up by Mrs. Eaton.
This is the point where I should have called my parents to let them know I was leaving the rib fest. Chris and I arrived at the house and started hanging out with the girls. After hanging out with the girls, we were dropped back off at my house. At this point my heart sank to the bottom of my stomach! I had finally looked at my phone, and had six missed calls from my mom. I called back saying, “What’s wrong?”
The next thing you hear is yelling over my smooth new iphone. She was yelling like a siren pounding in my eardrums. She said, “You should’ve told me where you where because I was looking for you.” In the morning, when she picked me up in her maroon colored car, the first thing out of my mom’s mouth was, “you're grounded!”
