I have had a lot of teachers in my years in school, but my favorite teacher was my 7th grade teacher, Mr. Bolinski, or as he likes to be called, Mr. B. I choose Mr. B for the Educator of the Year Award. The reason he was my favorite teacher was because of all the fun activities he would do with the class. Some of the activities included watching the March Madness Tournament and the Grammar Olympics. He also provided me with help in math and English, before and after school.

The first fun thing he did was watch the March Madness Tournament in class. I know that isn’t an educational thing, but it was our reward. If we behaved in class and were serious about our studies, we were allowed to watch the games in class while completing our assignments. Mr. B is a big basketball fan, and he loves to watch the games, so do I. That is something we have in common. He would also do brackets with the class. At the beginning of the tournament, you draw a team from a hat. The team that came in first or second place would win a pizza party.

The second fun event was the Grammar Olympics. The Grammar Olympics is a game he does with his classes every year. The object of the game is to pick teams of 3 or 4 and then choose a country you would like to represent. After doing that, he sets up different stations like track and field events, curling, and hockey, but all the events include English questions. They were really fun. At the end of each event, whatever team came in first, second, or third won different colored leis according to the place they finished. At the end of the week, everyone got a certificate, a candy bar and the country with the most points won a pizza party.

The third reason why he was such a good teacher was because of all the math and English help he provided me with. Mr. B would help me before every math test. I could either come in before school, after school and/or at lunch and recess before the test. Whenever I would go to see him I would always do better or the test or quiz. Mr. B did not only help me in math and English he would also help me in other subjects that I was struggling in. Mr. B taught a lower math class at my old school. We learned the same thing everyone else was learning but slower and a lot easier to understand. It really prepared me for high school.

Mr. Bolinski was my favorite teacher out every teacher I have ever had. He watched the March Madness games with us and he played english games with us, like the Grammar Olympics. He also provided me with a ton of help throughout the years at All Saints Catholic School. I am glad I was able to have him as a teacher. Thats why I am nominating him for the Educator of the Year Award.
