I’ve had a love-hate relationship with the game of golf since I was six years old. I have the problem of shanking it right or pulling it left. The ball has a hard time going straight. That was until I met my perfect match at 14 years old, David Roesch.

Standing 5’11 and 180 pounds, Coach Roesch is the average Joe with a love for the game. David Roesch jumpstarted his career by playing on the golf team at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In his senior year, he won the most valuable player of the year award. After that, he continued playing competitive golf on the professional level. He played in tournaments like the Wisconsin State Open and even playing in a major championship, the U.S. Open, finishing in 31st place. More recently, he won the Wisconsin PGA Teacher of the Year in 2013. Mr. Roesch is not only an impressive, reliable, and meticulous golfer, but also an amazing teacher.
Coach Roesch has also taught one of the best players in Wisconsin junior golf history: Harrison Ott. A true friend and a fellow golf player, Harrison and I have been fantastic friends for six years now. He started off as a powerful player, but lacked something. During the summer of 2013, Harrison went to see Coach Roesch. After that day, Harrison became the awe-inspiring player that he was destined to be. The success he had from going to Mr. Roesch showed me that he was a capable coach. Thus, leading me to begin a golf relationship with him.
From the beginning, Coach Roesch was inspiring, helpful, and enthusiastic. The facial expression he gives a person as they enter his booth, he makes a person feel like they are ready to “make things happen,” as he usually says. He doesn’t teach like the stereotypical coach. His style of coaching allows the student to learn and comprehend what they are doing wrong. After learning what they’re doing wrong, he helps the student with drills and this ends up guiding them towards success. At the end of the lesson, he makes sure that the student completely comprehended what happened during the lesson and how to improve on their game for the next lesson.
After going to Coach Roesch, I have had a love-love relationship with golf that has given me the confidence to perform at the highest level. He has picked me up when I was down and pushed me forward when I was at my best. David Roesch is like the superman of coaching golf. He is approachable and when a person leaves his lesson, they feel like a new and improved golfer.
