Saint Oscar Romero was born in El Salvador on August 15, 1917. At the age of one, he was baptized into the Catholic Church. He went to the public school, which only went through third grade. He was tutored privately until age 13. Like Jesus, Oscar Romero learned carpentry during that time. He was good at carpentry, but at 14, he started studying for the priesthood.

From an early age, Oscar Romero wanted to be a priest. He went to seminary at 14 but had to leave for a short time because of his mother's illness and went to work in a gold mine. After returning to seminary, he graduated seven years later and went to Rome to study.

 Ordained as a priest in Rome, Oscar Romero returned to El Salvador in 1942. He worked with people experiencing poverty and was famous for his sermons. He was very active in protesting against government wrongs against the poor, oppressed people of El Salvador.

In 1970, he became a bishop, and in the 1970s, in El Salvador, they began killing the poor who stood up for their rights. When the Army murdered three poor people in Bishop Romero's diocese, he loudly protested the murders and comforted the families. 

In 2015, he became an Archbishop. He continued to speak out about the unfair treatment of people experiencing poverty. Bishop Romero would broadcast his sermons via radio. The Army bombed his radio station, but eventually, the station was rebuilt by his friends, and he continued to broadcast his sermons to the people of El Salvador.

Saint Oscar Romero ordered the government and the Army to stop killing people in his sermon on March 23, 1980, and the next day, he was assassinated by a shot to the head as he said Mass. The El Salvador government ordered the assassination of Oscar Romero.

Pope Francis beatified Oscar Romero in 2015. Saint Oscar Remero's miracle was the healing of a Salvadoran woman who had life-threatening complications after a cesarean section. 

Saint Oscar Romero taught us to live for Jesus. To be king to all and offer service to people experiencing poverty. Especially when they are oppressed, he taught us to live the life of Jesus. Like Saint Oscar Romero, we should all do our best to advocate for human rights for the oppressed with God's guidance.
