My father always felt the American dream was to accomplish your goals to become successful. “Through hard work and setting your mind on a goal countless anything can be achieved”, said my father. That my father was always told at a young age that by coming to the United States, he had a better chance of becoming successful in life and he did. My father was able to become a citizen of the US and obtain an education and go to college at CSUN. Now my father is able to support his family and own a home through his goals he set on accomplishing the American dream. I felt my father has the best work ethic that I know and that I look up to and achieve as I grow older.

My father said when he was younger and living in Mexico he didn’t have much technology he had access to. He remembers he only had one small TV that was in black and white and had knobs to change to a few channels. My father also remembers when the first Atari game console was release says “I also went to a friend's house after school to play until it became late”, said my father. My father didn't have access to the internet when he was younger and remembers the internet becoming a new and popular thing growing up. My father also reminds me that I have no excuses to not finish my work being all the technology I was access to help me. He says ”I either have asked someone or need to go to a library”.

My father remembered many famous celebrities from his youth from actors to musicians. My father remembered bands like tijera de la north being a popular band growing up and they still are today. My father remembers actors like Sylvester Stallone in Rambo and Rocky which were popular films in his youth. My father favorite movie when he was younger was Sylvester Stallone films. My father remembers Michael Jackson is being a famous artist around the world. My father remember listening to songs like smooth criminal and thriller when they were released and becoming popular. I asked my father what type of music was popular where you were from in your youth? My father that cumbia and banda was the highly popular being it's part of his culture to listen and play this music. My father grew up with this music and to this day banda and cumbia are my fathers and his family’s favorite music.

In conclusion, by doing this interview with my father, I been able to learn how the past as change and his perspective of living while these changes have been occurring. I’ve learn what the American dream is to my father and if he feels he has accomplished and is living in the American dream. I’ve also discovered that my father has seen technology vastly change and improved since his youth by having early TVs and game consoles. My father also described how his music preference has changed since new artist have come and gone. I now see that history happens everyday and is an always occurring thing.
