2021 Kindness Contest: Donating Food
It was just like any other day in my AP US History class. I took out my binder full of class materials and waited for class to start. My teacher, Mrs. Morgan, then brought up the food drive. Mrs. Morgan was also one of the teachers who helped in my school senate. She explained what the food drive was and what it meant. It was mid-November, so the aim of this specific food drive was to help those families get adequate food for this upcoming Thanksgiving.
I thought about donating and something in my mind clicked. I now had felt morally obligated to participate in this food drive because doing so can do a lot of good for a lot of people. I was now motivated to donate.
My mother was an avid food donor as well, so I thought I could ask her if she would be able to get some food that I could donate at school. Thankfully, she said yes and brought some food to donate a day later.
The food she had brought were some packs of Ramen Noodles, as well as some boxes of Mac and Cheese.
I brought the packs of Ramen Noodles to school the next day, and then I brought the Packs of Mac and Cheese to school that Friday. I was thinking in my mind, “Did I make a difference with those donations?” Well, hopefully, I did, and hopefully, someone will have gotten adequate food for this upcoming Thanksgiving.
