Lip Gloss
Most girls have one makeup product they can’t seem to get enough of. Among all of the makeup products I own—consisting of half used blushes and long forgotten mascaras—there is one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb.
Its exterior bears countless adventures. A scratched label and worn-down cap gives small glimpses into the journeys it’s been on with me. It glistened once, and crackled when opened. That new and shiny feeling is one that I can never get back. It was like a new friendship, an uncomfortable one. But over the months and years, you get closer to that person. The crackles settle and the shine fades—a feeling of comfort.
Each twist of the cap is a new memory. Whispered secrets in my friends ear. Rushed mornings, sitting at the traffic light applying in the rearview mirror. Windy car rides with hair stuck to my lips. Mid conversation touch ups.
But its more than just one swipe. It is laughter and friendship and womanhood. It is confidence and beauty and smiles.
