Hi Squirt
"Hi, Squirt."
This is how my grandfather greeted me, but it's not an affectionate nickname. You see, he doesn't remember my name.
"Hi Grandpa. How are you?"
"I'm doing just fine. How do I know you again?"
"I'm your grandaughter."
This is when my grandmother interrupts, before I can get my feelings hurt again. She starts asking him a series of easy questions. Things like "Do you know what year it is?" or "Do you know who I am?"
He didn't.
