It's Always Been Me
Remember that feeling you had when we first started dating? In the end, you used the very cliche, "It's not you, it's me," line. I didn't believe it.
For months, I relived every moment, trying to figure out what I had done. Inside me, the pain just got worse with time. The first month, I cried. I cried for the times we had together, the ones we didn't, and the moments I still wanted with you. The second month, I didn't eat, didn't smile, didn't try. The third month, I didn't live. Your parting words never comforted me, Dear. It was me. It was everything about me. Last week, you told me you'd made a mistake. When you looked into my eyes, I tried to see what I did before. I really did try. But I couldn't. You asked,"Why?" It only took me a moment to come up with an answer.
"It's not you, it's me. It's always been me."
