I Never Want to Leave
The sun was wide awake, shining down without a cloud in the shy. People were singing, playing drums, dancing, and just living their life without a care in the world. Little shacks were considered to be homes to the homeland people. Everyone here worked hard to make a living, but yet they always seemed to have a smile on their face. Many tourists that visit tend to stay away and ignore the native people because they might be dangerous or are out to scam you. This is true, but not all are like thus. Most of them just want to help you. If you really search deep into the country there are many wonderful people, unique things to do, and many beautiful sights to see.
The end of last summer I traveled over to Cancun, Mexico with friends and family. When we arrived, we first stayed around the tourist areas for a day or two. It was fun and very beautiful, but we wanted to go and explore the city, like a local would. We knew it could be dangerous but we got to know our taxi driver really well and gained trust in him. He pointed us to the right places and the right people. The second day we were there we went to the heart of the city where all the famous local restaurants and shops were. We really got a good taste of what the Mexican culture was all about. If we had stayed in the touristy areas on the city we would never have had the experience that we had.
One of the main things that I wanted to experience while I was there was swim with dolphins. There was this really nice resort that we went to where I was able to do this at. The water was as blue as the sky. We actually went into the ocean to swim with them. They were in their natural habitats. They were trained and very smart. The first thing we did as soon as we got into the water was get a feel of the dolphins. They swam alongside us and we got to touch them. Then the dolphins chose a person and came up to us for a kiss. That was my favorite picture of the whole trip. I got to ride on the dolphins as well. The one dolphin that I was with the whole time was named Jack. I thought it was really cool how even though he was a dolphin I still got to know him and his personality. He was very playful. All the dolphins there could do all sorts of tricks such as back flips. However, Jack was the only one that could do a double back flip. I had so much fun that say with all of the dolphins. It was a day I will never forget.
Between meeting all of the native people, eating all of the native foods, singing and dancing, exploring places that you never would imagine, and getting to know some pretty cool dolphins to me is one successful trip. The next time that you go to a different country or place try to go outside of your comfort zone and get to know some local natives. You never know what or who you might run into. You will be able to experience some things that you will never get to experience in the rest of your life. I had the time of my life in Cancun. I had so many great and exciting stories to tell to my friends when I arrived back to the states. It will always be a memory that I will tell my children one day.
