Cooking has an endless number of benefits. Some vary from learning skills to gaining unknown confidence.

Cooking is not only a way to express yourself, however a way to learn what foods go together well and what doesn’t. Besides that, you gain skills such as knowing how to chop up fresh vegetables instead of buying them from the can. You can also learn how to properly hold a knife!

Other than learning skills, you learn about the different ways to prepare a meal. Such as broiling which is cooking the meat/fish at an extremely high, intense heat, roasting which is cooking something in an oven or over a fire, sautéing that’s when you cook something in fat or oil, the other way you can prepare something is by frying it, frying is cooking something in HOT oil. Another great benefit is, you know EXACTLY what goes into your food!

Also with cooking, you can add your own decorations to your food, I feel this is important because if your food looks/smells good your guests will want to try it. Food must look appealing to someone, no one wants to eat food that looks burnt and sloppy. So when you’re cooking think to yourself, “Would I eat this if I was a guest?”

Lastly, some other benefits are, after you learn how to cook, you can assist others in cooking. Some meals you could attempt to prepare are, Low-Cal fettuccini, sausage lasagna, and Baked fish and chips. Some of my favorite recipes are my Mom’s chicken spaghetti. Once you learn how to cook and bake, you can bake your own cookies and cakes from scratch and impress others with your skills!
