Rain Is More Than Just Weather
I think people like the rain so much because of how its innumerable, yet singular drops are so similar and yet so different. The sound of each drop repeats, bombarding the air, like a thousand muffled clocks ticking away. It becomes static – an ambient noise replacing the overwhelming background that, in silence, drives us insane. It’s one of the few things that can’t be replaced in the world because it’s so much more than just a noise. It’s an atmospheric ambiance - a tranquil space that makes us feel at peace. It’s the humidity that keeps us warm. It’s the breeze in the air that keeps us feeling crisp. At the same time, heavy, full breaths of air drown our lungs with oxygen. The raindrops are visible transparencies, made from nothing other than the elixir of life, are thoughts falling from clouded minds that in this moment, is the only thing keeping us on the brink of sanity. Rain is more than just weather; it’s a departure from the world.
