Catch Me in Traffic
All my life I would dream of being able to drive. Ever since I was a little girl I always thought driving was so much fun. I remember when I was like 6, my mom & I were on our way home & she let me sit on her lap & take the wheel. It was one of the most astounding experiences of my life. I wouldn't wait to be old enough to really learn.
As I got older driving was all I thought about. I always wanted to drive even though I didn't know how. I would ask my mom if I could drive & she would constantly tell me no. So in substitute to driving in real life, I would always play games where driving was involved. Games life Grand Theft Auto & just parking games on the computer.
When I finally got to high school I wasn't sure if we were going to have drivers ed or not. But when I found out we did, I was so excited. I was a freshmen & I only had one more year ti wait til I could learn to drive. Freshmen year flew on by. Before I knew it, I was sophemore in drivers ed.
All drivers ed class long the only thing I could think about was actually getting out on the road. Liz & I would ask Mr. D all the time "when are you going to take us drving?" & A few long weeks later, Mr. D finally said those magic words "let's go." I couldn't believe this was actually happening. I waited so long to get behind the wheel, just for the unthinkable to happen... I got nervous.
Mr. D went to hand me the keys & I got scared & backed away. So I took the keys & gave them to Liz & told her to go first. She did very well her first time. But when it came to my turn I was terrible at making turns. It was horrifying. But Mr. D is a great teacher & helped me get better. After a few more driving lessons, he actually told me I was a splendid driver. I couldn't wait to hey home to tell everyone to catch me in traffic!
