As we got into our usual morning line, my teacher Mr. Xiong told us to go sit at the colorful carpets by the white board which had our daily agenda on it. We all quickly walked over to sit on our our favorite colors. Ms. Xiong came over and said, “Okay class, today we are going to make volcanoes.” As she said that, everyone in the class shouted happily. “Okay you will need a paper plate, 4 cups of sand, and an empty glue stick. After that you will wait for my instructions.”

Ms. Xiong called us row by row to go get our supplies. As I got all of my things and sat down she said, “Okay class, so now you are going to put your glue stick in the middle of the sand.” I got my glue stick and gently put it into the sand. “So now you are going to put the sand all around it like this.” Ms. Xiong said and showed us her model. We got excited and quickly copied her model. “I want mine to look just like yours.” The boy next to me said happily. We all laughed and continued to build our volcanoes.

After we have completed the shape Ms. Xiong came by with a big tray of baby cups. “What's that?” I asked out of curiosity. “It's vinegar and baking soda. Don't eat or drink it okay.” I nodded and watched her pass it out to every one in the classroom. “Okay class, so now you will put the baking soda into the glue stick and wait for the next step to pour your vinegar in.” Everyone poured the baking soda into their glue stick and waited. Next thing you know the kid across from me said “Uh ohhhhh,” as his volcano erupted. Ms. Xiong stopped what she was doing and looked at the kid with the 'why did you do that' look. “It's okay. Now class pour your vinegar into the glue stick.

We all poured it quickly and waited for the results. Soon volcanoes started erupting everywhere. I can hear kids my age screaming in excitement. “Okay after you have seen the volcano erupt, then bring your plate over to the sink and wash your hands.” We obeyed her and carefully walked over to to the sink. I gave Ms. Xiong my plate and washed my hands. As I walked back to my seat, I realized how much fun I had doing the volcanoes. Volcano time is awesome!
