My Bestfriend
Knock knock
The front door had that knock that I recognize so well.
“dads here!” I yelled, super excited to see him. dad was my best friend. He was always such a happy person.
I run to the door, swinging it open. “Hi, grandpa!”. I throw my hands up for him to lift me up.
“Hi sweetheart”. He said, in his really deep toned voice. He smiled that super handsome smile. With the straightest white teeth. His smile always lit up the room.
He had that ruffly hair on his chin. It always made my cheek itch when we would hug. The strong smell of his Polo cologne he always wore flooded my nose. His white hair was even whiter and it looked as if he had gotten a haircut recently.
“A little birdy told me someone wasn’t feeling good, so I brought over popsicles and I am here to play playstation!”. That made me so happy. I stayed home from school that day because I was just getting over a very bad virus that I had. Any time one of us children were not feeling good, would would make sure to come cheer us up and attempt to brighten up our way any chance he could.
We sat on the couch for a good amount of the day. It was always nice having him to hang out with when my sisters were gone at school. I got him all to myself and we would just talk about silly stuff. Once we got tired of playing the game, mom brought in soup and a sandwich for the both of us. We sat on the floor and ate it because we both knew that if one of us had spilled something on the couch, mom would freak out.
While we were eating, we watched COPS. That was dads favorite show. I would mess around with him, trying to change the channel to Blues Clues because I knew he despised that show. I never knew why, and I still don’t.
Around three o’clock my sister was getting home.
“Oh my goodness hi dad !” She was just as excited to see him as I was. She automatically got really upset and looked at my mom. She had that look oh her face that revealed she was mad she didn’t get to stay home and spend all day with him.
She sat down with us and we all began to play playstation once again. Until about five o’clock came around, and dad got up.
“I have to go get grandma from work now, I will see you all later”. He gave us both hugs.
“Can I come?” My sister asked. We both always loved going with dad to get mom from work.
“Go ask your mom”. He said, he frowned at me because he knew I was not feeling good and that mom would not let me go. But I knew it was fair.
My sister came running back into the room, “She said I can go!”, She grabbed her coat, ran out the door and jumped into the car. I hugged dad goodbye one more time. And watched out the window as they pulled out of the driveway in the blue Chevy.
