European Heritage
European Heritage
“Hey Anna, do you want to play cards with us?” It was three o'clock in the morning. We were all tired and excited about the upcoming three week trip to Europe without our parents. I was sitting on the ground with Savannah, a girl I met during the meetings we had to prepare for our trip, we were playing cards as Anna decided to join the card game with us. That was the first sentence to an unbelieveable three week trip.
There were forty-nine of us in the San Jose group, and we will meet up with the two other groups in LA. Totally, we had 147 students, and six leaders.
The trip was tiring, busy, and fun. We learned about different cultures, ate different foods, and met new people. We went to a total of seven different countries in Europe, they are London, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, and France, and also had a host family in Germany where we spent three days with our host family. My host family is the most welcoming, and I can also relate to the family well. The family also have family members across the other side of the world, like my family. I taught them how to facepaint using water and rocks, that I learned in the fifth grade science camp. They lived in an apartment?, because Germany had a lot of people and not a lot of spaces to live in, so there will be lots of people living in apartments.
We had a great time in Europe and did not know that it is all coming to an end. We learned a lot about the history, like Henry the eighth and that almost all his six wives that got beheaded. This life changing trip changed my perspective of the world, and help me open my eyes. This trip is like a another big lift for me as my wings got broken down over the years, as my family situation were not well. My mom said this 2013 European Heritage People to People Student Ambassador trip really changed me as a person, a sister, and as a daughter. I greatly appreciate having the opportunity I got to go on the trip, because this trip help changed my life, and help me add more colors into this world.
