There I was, sitting on that cold bench, watching the sun set go down and the waves crashing on the bay rocks, seeing the sky change color from blue to light red to orange.   I stared,  thinking why I was there. I never thought that I was going to 20 miles away form home. I stared laughing of all the flash backs I had.

Mission Beach: that's the name of the beach I grew up on, played on, and learned how to take my first steps on.  But this beach is really important to me  because that's where I had my first love.

My love story. The same one that makes me go back to Mission Bay Beach every so often to think about her. It was the first day of school my junior year, riding bus number 5.  Right there at a bus stop after mine, she stood.  A 5'5'' girl with light brown skin and brown honey eyes.

She caught my attentions as fast as one, two, three.  To this day, I have never seen a girl like that.

Now you guys might think that I had guts to talk to her, but, no, I didn't.

Later that school year, around March, I was walking with my friend Lalo.  When we both turned and heard someone yell, "LALO!!!!!!!"  It was her!  She knew my best friend.

I was shocked to death.   She came and hugged Lalo and told me, "Hello, you looked familiar."

I replied, "We take the same bus in the morning. Well, anyways, hello, my name is Diego."

I  stretched out my hand, and she shook it.   She said, "My name is Sonia."

That day  I added her to Snapchat.  Since it was a Friday, I saw her on Monday morning.  She sat next to me.   I smiled and we talked. I walked her to school that day. I asked her, "Do you have Facebook or Instagram?"

She replied, "Yes,"  so I added her on Facebook and Instagram. That same day we started talking through Facebook.

She asked, "When is your birthday?"  I replied, "This Wednesday," so she bought me some candy and balloons.

I thought that was really cute. Around April,  we skipped school.  I took her ice-skating at the UTC mall. I took her shopping that same day. In May and June we skipped school and went to Mission Beach because it was hot.  I never told her that that place was important for me.

Now in June I grew some guts and that same day we hugged and I held her hands and we kissed for about two minutes.
Then she pushed me and said, "I have a boyfriend," and walked away.

I go back there sometimes and walk through the path where we kissed, and I sit in the bench we would sit on.  I say to myself,  "Did I do wrong?"
