Best women's soccer players 

You may be wondering who the best women's soccer players are and how it got to be that way. Women's soccer has been around for a long time with many hard fought world cups and Olympic games. Many people have watched the intriguing matches between the countries. But many people don't know who the best players to ever step on the pitch were and what helped them get there.  

The number of people watching women's soccer has increased over the years but for some people it's the occasional watch or for some people it may just be the world cup or the big games or it could be the super fan and watch every game. But wherever you're at with watching soccer it's fun to see who the best player is and their domination on the pitch. 

For young players dreaming of playing professional soccer one day these players are meteors to them. Ever if you are not wanting to play soccer, these players and their story encourage us and give many people the encouragement they need to keep going and working hard.  

Imagine you step out onto the field knowing you have made it. The fresh cut grass and the millions of people cheering you on bring you into the satisfaction of knowing you have achieved your dream.  

The players who have worked really hard to become the best in the world and achieve their dreams didn't just have it handed to them, they put in multiple hours to achieve what they have now. When you see exactly the wonderful things that these people have accomplished it may change the way you think about soccer and the players.   

Marta 

 Marta Vieira da Silva was born February 19th 1986 she is known as Marta. she is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a forward for the Orlando Pride in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and the Brazil national team. Marta is often regarded as the greatest female footballer of all time. She has been named FIFA World Player of the Year six times, five of them being consecutive (from 2006 through 2010) and the latest award coming in 2018

 Marta holds the record for being Brazil's top international goalscorer of any gender, with 115 goals. With 17 goal scored in one tournament she1 also holds the record for most goals scored in the FIFA World Cup tournament (women's or men's).

 Moreover, she was the first soccer player of any gender to score at five World Cup, it was matched by Christine Sinclair in 2019 and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2022. she is also the first female soccer to score at five consecutive Olympic Games. She was a member of the Brazilian national teams that won the silver medal at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. 

She was also awarded the Golden Ball (MVP) at the 2004 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship and won both the top scorer in the 2007 Women's World Cup after leading Brazil to the final of the tournament. 

2. Mia hamm 

Mia Hamm, full name of Mariel Margaret Hamm, she was born March 17, 1972, Selma, Alabama, U.S., American soccer player who became the first international star of the women's game. Playing forward, she starred on the U.S. national team that won World Cup championships in 1991 and 1999 and Olympic gold medals in 1996 and 2004. 

ii87iShe was revered for her all-around skill, competitive spirit, and knack for goal scoring. She retired from the national team in 2004 with 158 goals in international competition, the most by any player, male or female  

Mia Hamm played sports from a young age and excelled as a soccer player on the boys' team at junior high school. As a high school freshman and sophomore, she played soccer for Notre Dame Catholic High School in Wichita Falls. 

She played at the 1987 U.S. Olympic Festival, the youngest player to play for the United States women's national soccer team. As a new player, she often started as a forward but did not score a goal during her first year on the team. She spent a year at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, Virginia, and helped the Lake Braddock soccer team win the 1989 state championships.

3. Alex morgan 

Shortly after graduating early from the University of California, Berkeley, where she played for the California Golden Bears, she was drafted number one overall in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. There, she made her professional debut and helped the team win the league championship. Alex, who was 22 at the time  was the youngest player on the national team at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the team was runner-up.

 At the 2012 London Olympics, she scored the match-winning goal in the 123rd minute of the semi-final match against Canada. She finished 2012 with 28 goals and 21 assists, joining Mia Hamm as the only American woman to score 20 goals and provide 20 assists in the same calendar year.

 That made her the sixth and youngest U.S. player to score 20 goals in a single season. She was named U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. 

Morgan also helped the United States win their titles at the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was named to the Dream Team for both tournaments, while she won the Silver Boot in 2019. 

4. Carli Lloyd 

Carli Anne Hollins was born July 16, 1982 she  is an American former professional soccer player. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in 2008 and 2012, she is also a  two-time FIFA Women's World Cup champion in 2015 and 2019.she has been two-time FIFA Player of the Year in 2015 and 201), and a four-time Olympian (2008, 2012, 2016 and 2021). Lloyd scored the gold medal-winning goals in the finals of the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Lloyd also helped the United States win their titles at the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups. They won a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics, and she played for the team at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup where the U.S. finished in second place. 

After the 2020 Summer Olympics, Lloyd announced she would be retiring from the national team following four final friendly matches in 2021. She has made 316 appearances for the U.S. national team; she has the fourth-most goals and fifth-most assists for the team. 

She had many great years with the women's national soccer team “In March 2021, she was named as the highest paid female soccer player in the world. She played her last international match with the USWNT on October 26, 2021, shortly before retiring from professional soccer at the completion of the 2021 NJ/NY Gotham FC season.” She helped the women's teams get to where they are now. 

5. Sophia smith 

Sophia attended Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was named First-Team All-Conference her freshman year. She also played for their varsity basketball team. Sopia began playing college soccer at Stanford University in 2018 where she scored 7 goals that season and 17 the next season. 

In the 2019 College Cup, she scored a hat-trick to help Stanford defeat UCLA in the semifinal; Stanford went on to win the national title via a penalty shootout in the final. She definitely helped lead them to victory.

 Sophia Olivia Smith was born August 10, 2000 she is an American soccer player who plays for Portland Thorns FC in the National Women's Soccer League and the United States national team. 

In March 2017, she was called to play in two internationally friendly matches against Russia in her senior year. On January 16, 2020, she was selected by the Thorns as the top overall pick in the 2020 NWSL College Draft.
