I'm standing at the starting line, my heart racing, my hands moist. Bang! the gun goes off, and the race starts, I try and get out to have good positioning. I hear the coach yell “32, 33, 34” at the 200 mark which is a little fast. I’m just imagining crossing the line and the race is over. Then I get to the 800 at 2:20 which is on pace, and still staying relaxed. Just thinking in my head “Two more laps, you got this.” I get to the third lap and try and hold the pace as the third lap is always the hardest. Then finally onto the last lap just trying to kick it in as fast as you can, hearing fans yelling in your head. I get to the last 100 just sprinting as fast as I can. I come through the mile in 4:47. I walk over to my teammate who just raced and tell him a good job as he had a good race. With this being the first race that time is not bad at all. I just need to review my race and find things I can Improve so I can race faster next time.
