Regret
“Ladies take your mark beep!” that’s the sound of the guy’s in there pearly white shirts starting us off. We were swimming the 100 backstroke, my favorite and best event…
I had only been swimming for six months; luckily I had never been D.Q. (disqualified) until this meet. I was going so fast. I felt like nothing could stop me. Until I got out of the pool, and the guy in his pearly white shirt came up to me… “Failure to do a turn” he barked with a strong voice. Which in swimming means you got D.Q. My heart fell to the ground. I did all I could not to let the water works start; I just couldn’t hold it back.
I just wish I could go back in time an fix this stupid little mistake that cost me state. Ever since then I have been a little scared to swim the 100 backstroke. I know that ever swimmer goes through it I just didn’t think it would happen to me in backstroke!
