What Really Happens on the Sidelines
1.
When most people see a cheerleader, they think of the stereotype of a “football groupie”, but to me it is so much more than that. Even though cheer is a very physically straining sport that requires talent and it is also a way of living. Cheer is a way for me to show my spirit for my school and to cheer on my team. It gives me an on field advantage of watching my favorite sports being played by my best friends. Even though cheering at games is how some school end their cheer seasons, my high school cheer squad competes. In just the last couple of years our squad has won numerous awards including 1st overall in regionals and 1st in varsity division in state. For some this might not mean for much but to mean it means the world. Knowing that we now have students coming to our school just to be a cheerleader means that I have done my job of showing school spirit and doing the best of my ability.
