After winning the most games in regular season history, the Warriors came up short in the Finals, losing three consecutive games for the first time all season after dominating the Cavaliers through the first four games of the series to the tune of a 3-1 lead. James and the Cavaliers became the first team in NBA history to come back from a seemingly insurmountable 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals, winning the final three games of the series over the 73-win Warriors thanks to a streak of superiority from one of the NBA’s greatest players.The Warriors took a four-point lead in the fourth quarter, but James drew a foul on a three and then hit his first three of the game to give the Cavaliers an 89-87 lead with 4:53 to play. The Warriors tied it on the next possession, but neither team scored over the next 2:30, setting up a final 2:00 with the teams tied at 89. James had the block of the series on a Warriors fast break on Warriors forward Andre Iguodala with 1:45 remaining, but missed a shot in the lane with 1:25 left. Curry missed a three on the following possession, and it was tied with 1:00 to play. Then, Irving shimmied his way to a three over the 2-time regular season MVP Stephen Curry to give the Cavaliers a 92-89 lead. One of the most dominant individuals in NBA history overcame one of the league’s most dominant teams, when the Cleveland Cavaliers shocked the Golden State Warriors on the road in a thrilling 93-89 to win the NBA Championship, the first in Cavaliers history and the first major league championship in Cleveland in 52 years and finally ending the drought.  He led all players on both teams in all five categories (points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks) in the Finals.In three consecutive must-win games for Cleveland, James had 41 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists in Game 5; 41 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds in Game 6; and the triple-double in Game 7.James scored 27 points, collected 11 rebounds, delivered 11 assists, blocked three shots and had two steals – his seventh Finals triple-double – as the Cavaliers defeated the Warriors in Game 7. "The people of Cleveland deserve this more than any other people I've ever seen or met or felt," Cavs owner Dan Gilbert said. Gilbert also added, “I'm speechless and proud of everybody." When asked why this championship felt different, James kept his answer simple: "I'm home." "This is what I came back for," he said."Cleveland, this is for you!" James, an Akron, Ohio, native, shouted through tears in a post-game interview with ESPN. He decided to return to the Cavs in 2014 hoping to end the title drought for Cleveland. He joined the Miami Heat with fellow All-Stars Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, winning two titles there.James returned to his hometown team in 2014 after an acrimonious split in 2010. It is the first time a team has won the title after falling behind 3-1 in a Finals series, and it took one of the best performances in Finals history from James to deliver Cleveland its first major pro sports championship since the 1964 Browns. With this win, James has sealed his legacy as one of the greatest Basketball players of all time and will without a doubt go down as 2nd if not the greatest behind His Airness.
