In the world, the game of baseball is mentally underestimated. It's a lot more than swinging at a ball and running to a base or picking up a rolling ball. It is often said that baseball is 90% mental and 10% physical. That is a very true statement. Before you are up to bat, you have to time your swing with how fast the pitcher is throwing. When you come up to bat, you don't just swing away and hope you make contact. In certain situations, you have to hit the ball in certain spots. For example, if you're in a close game and you have a runner on third, you should put a bunt down. The bunt should not be directed straight ahead to the pitcher because he will be able to throw out either you or the runner coming home. Hitting also depends on where the ball is pitched. If the ball is pitched inside, or closer to you, you should pull the ball. Hitting is a lot more complicated than most people think.
