My Mother’s Kitchen MAG
My mother's kitchen is not mine.
Her kitchen is an angry color,
red, simmering like spaghetti sauce on the stove.
 Everything is carefully measured,
 precise.
There are no shades of gray,
 only black and white
 the end result is perfection.

My kitchen is my grandmother's kitchen
 it's a mosaic
 comfortable and airy
 slightly outdated, but safe.
 We don't use measuring cups,
 we add what feels right
 splashes of color swirl around
 in the bowl
 in the air
 on the walls
we know these recipes by heart
 end result is not perfect
 but it's me
