The Hindenburg Disaster
Summary:
This story is based off of the true events that happened in 1937 at the height of the Great Depression. On May 6th, the incredible German blimp, the LZ 129 Hindenburg, made its much anticipated arrival to the United States in Lakehurst, New Jersey. In my story, a reporter in his twenties by the name James William Robertson is offered one last event to report on until he moves to New York City to live with his now wife, Virginia Rose Campbell. He decides to stay behind the extra week until the Hindenburg arrives so that the entire country will get to hear his voice. He is both excited and anxious to begin his report the day of the arrival when his joyous emotions quickly turn to confusion and horror when he and his cameraman Charlie watch the airship break through the rainy storm clouds.
