Summary:

Adria was born of a Dark One and a nomad, yet was given to a human family to raise in the human kingdom of Liesta in the Southlands. She knows where she came from and wishes to see it for herself. She embarks to the Northlands, where a war had ended between those of the Dark race and every one else, the Dark had lost. She wished to help rebuild
She is also looking for one called Ven, trying to be the next ruler of the Dark people, his actions were ruthless and terrible.
While in the North she meets Kenla, a young nomad and they together head toward the South, following Ven.
They must pass the Deadlands, the area around the Rift which separates the North and South to follow Ven and once they get to his compound in the dessert they begin a complex plan to end his reign and the reign of the Dark terror.
