Goodbye Snooze
According to a recent study, school starting later could help improve attendance rates, graduation rates, and improve sleep habits. Likewise, school should start later because students will live a happy and stress-free life. School also should start later because it could help grades improve, and students will have more motivation. Because students would be happier and grades would improve, school days should start later.
School starting later could allow one to live a happier life. Students could get more sleep which could help students be less stressed. Most students stay up very late doing homework, so if school starts later in the morning, they could get all their homework done and not worry about being tired. Therefore, if school starts later, students can have more time for homework. Most students do not start homework when they get home from school because they are so tired from their early start, so if school started later students could go home and get their homework done while they are more rested. If school started later, students could get more sleep and be less stressed.
In addition, school should start later because it could help grades improve and students will have more motivation. Students grades could improve because they will be more attentive during class. If school starts later, students could get more sleep, and that could help them from falling asleep during class. Also, most students prefer to do homework at home but are stuck at school because of a parent's job. Since most jobs get off around five, if school started later most students could go home right after school and start homework. School starting later could help grades improve and allow students to spend more time doing homework at home where they are relaxed.
Even though school starting later can help reduce stress, some people oppose this idea because some parents have early jobs. For example, one’s parent could be a teacher at another school that starts earlier, so it is hard for the parents to get to work and drop their child off at different times. However, this problem can be easily solved because schools can offer morning care for those parents who have to get to work earlier. Parents no longer have to worry about getting to work on time and dropping their kid off at school. This problem, along with many other issues can be fixed with simple solutions.
School days should start later because students would be happier and grades would improve. If school started later, students could get more sleep, be less stressed and a be a happier person. School should also start later because it could help their grades improve and lead them to have more motivation. If another study were done, one would most likely find that students do better in school when they receive more sleep.

My English teacher inspired me to write this paper. At school, we have to write a persuasive essay and we got to pick our topics. As soon as I saw the topic that said, "School should start later" I knew that I had to do it. Since I am not a morning person, this assignment was very fun because I felt strongly on the topic.
