Voting In The Greatest Country

October 28, 2019

In two years, I will participate in a right given to us as American citizens.  I am privileged to vote in the greatest country in the world. Being able to select the next President of the United States of America or any other politician is an exciting new adventure when becoming an adult.

Unfortunately, some people take voting for granted or just don’t care about this great right and privilege we have as Americans.  For example in North Korea, people do not even get to vote. Many brave souls have lost their lives towards protecting this right for all American citizens. I feel that voting is my way to voice my opinion.  Voting is important to me, but also telling other people that they need to go vote makes a difference too. It is a shame for those Americans that do not take the time to research candidates and watching the news so their voice is heard.  Researching a candidate is so easy and fast compared to how it used to be.

Voting for the President of the United States is important, but so is voting for local state government as well.  Voting for the Governor of Wisconsin makes an impact on my everyday life. Voting for US Senators and Congressmen is important because they can change the laws that affect all American citizens.

The politician I will vote for becomes my voice in Government.  Taxes, laws, healthcare, and other things can all be impacted by voting.   I really can’t wait to get a ballot in my hand, walk in the voting booth, and cast my ballot into the voting machine.

The other exciting part about voting is watching the results. Watching the results to see if candidate winning or losing makes voting exciting.  The year 2021 will be here before I know it, and I will be ready to register to vote. I will wear my “I voted” sticker proudly.
