Joe Biden, the man who said that he would be different from previous presidents, the man who said he would end violence and wars, turned out to be just like every other president, but are we really surprised? Biden recently caused extreme chaos in Afghanistan and tarnished US credibility around the globe. The mayhem in Afghanistan occurred because of his decision to proceed with a complete US troop withdrawal, shocking and confusing the world. The US invaded Afghanistan years ago, in the aftermath of  9/11. They told their people that not only would they catch Osama Bin-Laden, but they would also shape up the country and get rid of the Taliban. Twenty years later, we see that they did not accomplish everything they set out to, as the Taliban are back in power.  Instead of removing the troops, Biden could have been the one to accomplish something and make change. Despite him being criticized for suddenly withdrawing the troops, he stated in an interview with ABC News, “I don’t think it was a failure.”

What is it though, that lies behind Biden's decision? Several factors come to mind when thinking about the choice he made. Biden and his supporters quoted polling in support of the US withdrawal, but it is unlikely that it was the biggest factor in the final decision as Afghanistan has not recently been a hot topic in US politics. Overall, Joe Biden’s decisions so far as the president of the most powerful country in the world, have stained his presidency and image in regards to the rest of the world.
