Masterpiece Cake Shop Issue
In recent problems Jack Phillips owner of Masterpiece cakeshop denied to customize a cake celebrating the marriage of a gay couple David Mullins and Charlie Craig. In the result of this the two have sued the cake shop for not fulfilling the request because they were a gay couple. I believe that Jack Phillips should've fulfilled the request of David and Charlie. Jack phillips makes cakes based on what the person wants to communicate and because of his beliefs he denied to make them a cake that celebrated their love. Yes Jack did offer to make the couple a cake that did NOT celebrate their marriage. This is not about the cake. If a baker can reject LGBTQ people because of who they are then what's next? The mechanic, the florist, the teacher, the doctor? If the supreme court sides with the cake shop the rejection of LGBTQ people from public life will make anti-LGBTQ movements grow stronger. The fight for equality the LGBTQ will mean nothing if they can't do something as order a cake to celebrate their love that they fought for so long.
