Controversy of Racism and Opposition of Homosexuality
There is much controversy between racism, and homosexuality. Practices opposing both, and embracing both have been around since mankind came-to-be. Some people believe that one color defines who you are, or one makes you the upper race. People believe that gays and lesbians shouldn’t be wedded because of religion. This world is full of people who believe that in some way they’re always better than the next.
There are many groups, or gangs, that meet and preform hate crimes against certain races. The Aryan Brotherhood and Ku Klux Klan are white groups attempting to purify the human race as white. The Aryan Brotherhood was formed after jails desegregation and made groups, aka the brotherhood, to keep it segregated. The Ku Klux Klan practice the belief that black people are slaves, and are to be kept that way. Racism is everywhere and is very wrong. People killing off, hurting, and doing unspeakable things because of their color is just wrong. Just because you are one color or a different shade doesn’t make you any different. We all have bones, blood, organs, and hearts. Take the Michael Brown case for example, many people say that he robbed a store and went after a cop and tried to disarm him; others say that yes, he did rob a store but didn’t run after and was shot in cold blood. If he did attack the cop why would such riotous actions take place? More than 250,000 Americans over the age of 12 are victimized every year by hate criminals, studies show that police are more likely to pull over and frisk blacks or Latinos than whites. In New York City, 80% of the stops made were blacks and Latinos, and 85% of those people were frisked, compared to a small 8% of the white people stopped. I believe this needs to stop, why should your color define that you’re destined to commit crimes. Maybe that’s why dogs are so loving, they’re color blind.
Millions of people are openly gay, but even more are afraid to come out because of rejection. People shun them because they are different, and that’s just terrible. What difference does it make if you, him, her; or anyone if he or she likes the same gender as them? It won’t affect you in any way if a gay couple is together. In America few states have homosexual marriage legal, 32 to be exact. But that’s 18 that have it banned. I myself am not gay, but believe that in a free country we deserve to be, well, free. Now they must be wedded in a church, but it’s the Old Testament, not the new that declares homosexuality as a sin. We are moving on in life and meeting up with new times and we, as humanity, need to evolve with it; before we’re left behind. Face the facts, having two people put on a ring doesn’t affect anyone besides them because we aren’t marrying; they are. Rallies are held around the world to encourage the acceptance of one another. People march everywhere looking for acceptance, one of the most famous was the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights in Washington, D.C. on October 14, 1979. We need to grow up and stop bickering because he married him, she married her. It’s completely okay and does the least bit to affect you, sure you can hate them for what they are, but other than your hate there’s nothing there that affects you
Humanity is great at billions of things, but acceptance is not one of them. We need to buck up and accept we are different, share different beliefs, and teach/raise our children different things. Only a little portion of America accepts everyone as we are. Why not all? I think that we’d be much farther in this world without racism or fighting against homosexuality, and even the other world threats such as: terrorism, crime, famine, we could all just live without it.
