Drink Smarter Not Harder
Drinking and driving is one of the most dangerous problems in this country, with serious negative effects it can cause on people's lives. In an instant your whole life, your whole existence is in jeopardy. There is a thin line between life and death. Are you willing to take that risk?
Drinking and driving is a worldwide problem that causes over 300,000 people, young and old, around the world to lose their lives. In the U.S alone 10,800 people die every year from a crash involving a drunk driver operating a motor vehicle. Not all crashes are fatal to the one driving or to its victims but can leave you suffering severe injuries or damage to the body and brain. With life changing effects leading you to be paralysis, disfigured, brain damage, loss of lems and death.
People will still take that risk knowing the consequences their action can cause them to hurt themselves or others. Drink responsibly and be responsible for yourself when you are under the influence. Before drinking, you should understand how much alcohol you have consumed.
Alcohol interferes with the brain's communication pathways and can affect the way the brain functions. It impairs motor skills which slows down reflexes and causes blurred vision. Alcohol also causes poor judgment and decision making. Making it harder for you to comprehend the negative outcomes when thinking about drinking and driving. It is so easy to feel persuaded to do something you know you shouldn't even if you have done it a hundred times before, like getting in a car with a drunk driver or being the one driving.
It's not worth it at all. I lost a friend because she made the choice to get in the car with a drunk driver. She was only 19. She would be 21 if she was still here. She had her whole life ahead of her. She was about to graduate high school. I miss her so much. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about her. What hurt the most was knowing my best friend lost two people that day, her sister in the accident and her dad to jail as he was the driver. See how much hurt it cost her. I never want to see anybody I love or care about go through something like that again.
My goal is to spread awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving and how people need to change. People need to be responsible with their drinking. Without change every day someone will lose their life on the road. Drive sober or get pulled over!
