The Only Escape
The other day, I was thinking. People use drugs and alcohol because they feel pain. A lot of it. All at once. They can't handle it, and they need to escape. Society views addicts and substance abusers as disgusting monsters. I view them as one of us. I almost relate to them, in a weird, twisted way. I feel bad for them. They got so addicted to something that constantly takes away the pain, that they no longer have the strength to go back and face their problems. I can't even imagine what kind of problems they have in their lives if their always running away from them.
