What are your thoughts on global warming? Some people say that global warming is fake while others might say that it’s true and that greenhouse gases are confined beneath our atmosphere. These gases prevent energy from escaping our Earth. Because of this, the overall temperature of the Earth is increasing. With Trump becoming being more recent president people are wondering, how are Donald Trump's environmental policies negatively affecting the United States?

Trump at the end of last year removed climate change from its list of global threats. The move, the politicians said, "represents a step backward on this issue and discredits those who deal in scientific fact".  Since taking office Trump removed dozens of climate and environment policies. This move has the support of coal miners and companies. Coal mining can cause a lot of environmental issues. These regulations that Trump removed helped reduce the impact that it has on the environment. Mining harms the environment in many ways here are just some: Deforestation and Erosion, Destruction of Landscapes and Habitats, Contaminated Groundwater, and Chemical, Air & Dust Pollution.

Mining also kills many animals, especially birds, but with anything, there is a cost. Even wind turbines that are viewed as eco-friendly, kill about 358,000 bids annually, according to usatoday. Even with such a large amount of deaths; context is important, treehugger estimates that around 1.4 billion to 3.7 billion are killed by house cats a year. I find it ironic that people say that to birds are dying because of wind turbines when coal mining kills nearly 8,000,000 birds a year! Thinkprogress has a really neat chart that can show what I am talking about. Mining also kills many animals, especially birds, but with anything, there is a cost. Another reason that Trump is destroying the environment. One of Trump's biggest changes was removing the protection for endangered whales and sea turtles. It used to restrict gill net fishing. Gillnet fishing can be very harmful to marine wildlife Citing NOAA data, the nonprofit Center for Biological Diversity said last year that the California-based gillnet fishery targeting swordfish “catches and discards more than 100 protected whales, dolphins, seals and sea lions each year, in addition to thousands of sharks and other fish.”  The NOAA said that ¨the costs of the protections far outweighed the benefits and that the fishing industry had implemented measures that greatly reduced the deaths and injury of protected marine mammals.” Many environmental groups rejected this idea and they say that this is because the numbers of vessels fell from 129 to 20. This may be the end to many marine animals like the leatherback sea turtle that, according to Dominique Mosbergen from Huffington post, have as few as 2,300 adult females left.
