I finally got home after a long day of work, exhausted and sore from lifting heavy pallets all day. My puppy wanted to play, but I did not have the energy to play with him tonight. I headed upstairs straight to my bedroom and plopped myself down on my bed, not wanting to do anything else but sleep. My back, legs and arms were so sore that I did not feel like moving a muscle. I heard noise coming from downstairs, but I just assumed it was my puppy causing havoc to the couch, or simply running into furniture without a care in the world. I was getting frustrated because I was wondering what I would wake up to by the morning time to my puppy leaving broken surprises around my downstairs living room. My puppy had the brain as a squirrel, driving me nuts.

Suddenly, a little popping noise and my power completely went out. I propped myself up, trying to adjust my eyes to the sudden darkness, noticing it felt eerie and extremely silent. I tried listening for any sound from downstairs, but overall heard nothing, not even my puppy making a sound. I got up, grabbed my flashlight from the nightstand, and headed for the stairs. Looking over the edge, I noticed nothing out of the ordinary, but it was as calm as a silent night. How could my power go out?

As I collect myself, I start walking down the stairs trying to figure out if anything is different, heading for the garage to find the fuse box, I noticed something was off. The fuse box cover was open, and the switches were turned off, which started to frighten me, making me wonder who was in my house. I swiftly turn everything back on, close and lock the fuse box door, and head back inside. In the living room, it was still beyond dark and my eyes still haven't adjusted to the darkness. I find the switch for the light, flip it, and suddenly a blast of confetti poppers, shouts of celebration and people jumping out from behind my couch, tables and chairs all happened at once, noticing all my friends and family members gathered around to surprise me for my birthday! They all started to come towards me, hugging me and congratulating me for my birthday, handing me small gift bags and little nick nacks for my shelves. 

I start by thanking all of them for surprising me, taking time out of their night to come visit me and spend time with me on my birthday, how it was the best surprise I have ever had. I loved that my friends and family members were all here, it felt like home to have everyone I cared about under the same roof as me. Suddenly, my puppy came running out from the other room with a celebration hat around his head, running into the wall acting as a bulldozer, and simply looking goofy trying to make his way to me with the celebration hat still on his head. I thought it was the cutest thing ever.
